Volfartice

Volfartice is a municipality and village located in the Česká Lípa District within the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It is situated approximately 8 kilometers northwest of the town of Česká Lípa, positioned along the Libchava stream in the Central Bohemian Uplands (České středohoří).

The first written mention of Volfartice dates to 1352. Historically, the settlement was known by the German name Wolfersdorf. Like many municipalities in the Sudetenland region, its demographic composition was significantly altered following World War II due to the expulsion of the ethnic German population and subsequent resettlement by Czech citizens.

The most prominent architectural landmark in the municipality is the Church of Saints Peter and Paul (Kostel svatého Petra a Pavla). This Baroque structure was constructed between 1780 and 1795, replacing an earlier Gothic building on the same site. The village also features several examples of traditional North Bohemian timber-framed architecture.

Administratively, the municipality of Volfartice includes the village of Nová Ves. As of the early 2020s, the population is approximately 700 residents. The surrounding landscape is characterized by a mix of agricultural land and forested hills, which supports local tourism and outdoor recreation.
