Virkkala is a district and former urban area in the municipality of Lohja, located in the Uusimaa region of southern Finland. Historically, it developed as an industrial community centered around the paper and wood-processing industries. In 1970, Virkkala was granted the status of a market town (kauppala) and functioned as an independent municipality until its consolidation with Lohja in 2013.
Geography
