Virginia Foxx

Virginia Foxx (born June 27, 1943) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 5th congressional district since 2005. A member of the Republican Party, she has held various committee assignments and leadership positions within the House of Representatives.

Early Life and Education
Virginia Ann Foxx was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1965 and later obtained a Master of Education from the same institution in 1969.

Career Before Congress
Foxx worked as a public school teacher and later served as a school administrator. She was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1995 to 1999, and then to the North Carolina Senate, where she served from 1999 until her election to Congress in 2004. During her state legislative tenure, she held the position of Majority Whip.
