Vincenzo Garioni

Vincenzo Garioni (Cremona, 1617 – 1693) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, primarily active in his native city of Cremona.

Garioni was a pupil of Giovanni Battista Lodi, a prominent local painter. He developed a style characteristic of the Cremonese school of the second half of the 17th century, often focusing on religious subjects. His works demonstrate a blend of traditional devotional imagery with the developing dynamism and emotional intensity of the Baroque era.

Among his known works are:

  • An altarpiece depicting Saint Francis of Sales for the church of Santa Maria Maddalena in Cremona.
  • An Annunciation for the church of Santa Margherita in Cremona.

He is mentioned in historical art texts, including Pellegrino Antonio Orlandi's Abecedario pittorico (1704), which chronicles notable painters of the time. Garioni's contributions helped shape the artistic landscape of Cremona during his active years.
