Vincent Borg Bonaci (11 December 1943 – 19 August 2006) was a Maltese professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Early life and personal background
Born in Malta, Borg Bonaci began his football career in the early 1960s.
Club career
Borg Bonaci spent the majority of his senior career with Valletta Football Club, appearing in 112 league matches between 1963 and 1973. He was the first‑choice goalkeeper for Valletta during a period of domestic success, most notably in the 1968–69 season when he recorded a streak of 600 minutes without conceding a goal. His performances earned him third place in the Maltese Sportsman of the Year vote that year. In recognition of his contributions, he was later inducted into the Valletta FC Hall of Fame.
International career
Between 1969 and 1972, Borg Bonaci earned nine caps for the Malta national football team. He represented Malta in various international fixtures but did not score, as is typical for his goalkeeping position.
Legacy
Vincent Borg Bonaci is remembered as one of Malta’s notable goalkeepers of the 1960s and early 1970s, particularly for his record of consecutive minutes without conceding and his long service to Valletta FC.
