History
Construction of the villa began in the early 18th century, commissioned by Count Giacomo Bettoni (also known as Count Giacomo Bettoni d'Adda). The design is attributed to the architect Antonio Galli Bibiena, although definitive documentary evidence linking him to the project is limited. The estate remained in the possession of the Bettoni family for several generations, serving as a private summer residence and a center for social and cultural gatherings among the Lombard aristocracy.
During the Napoleonic period and later the Italian unification, the villa experienced periods of neglect and partial conversion for administrative uses. In the 20th century, parts of the property were restored, and the building was adapted for public functions, including use as a municipal venue for cultural events and exhibitions.
Architecture
The villa exhibits characteristic features of Baroque palatial architecture, including a symmetrical façade, a central portico with a pediment, and ornate stucco decorations.
