Vidmantas Jusionis

Vidmantas Jusionis (born February 14, 1961) is a Lithuanian politician and diplomat. He is best known for being one of the signatories of the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania on March 11, 1990, which declared Lithuania's independence from the Soviet Union. He has served as a member of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) and held various diplomatic posts, including Ambassador to Greece, Romania, and Cyprus.

Early Life and Education

Vidmantas Jusionis was born on February 14, 1961, in Skuodas, Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from Vilnius University in 1984 with a degree in law.

Political Career

Jusionis began his political career during the tumultuous period leading up to Lithuania's independence. He was elected as a member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania, which later transformed into the Seimas. His most significant political act was his signature on the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania on March 11, 1990, a pivotal moment in modern Lithuanian history. This act marked the restoration of Lithuania's independence after decades of Soviet occupation.
