Vedior

Vedior N.V. was a Dutch‑based multinational staffing and recruitment firm that operated globally until its acquisition by Randstad in 2008.

History

  • Founding and early development: The company originated in the Netherlands in the mid‑1980s as a provider of temporary and permanent staffing services.
  • Expansion: Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Vedior expanded by acquiring and merging with a series of regional staffing agencies in Europe, South America, the United States, and Asia, establishing a presence in more than 60 countries.
  • Public listing: Vedior was listed on the Euronext exchange (Amsterdam and Brussels) and reported annual revenues in the billions of euros.

Acquisition by Randrand

  • In 2008, Randstad Holding NV announced the acquisition of Vedior for approximately €5.6 billion (US$7.5 billion). The transaction was completed later that year, and Vedior’s operations were integrated into Randstad’s global business, effectively ending Vedior’s independent corporate existence.

Business activities
Vedior provided a range of human‑resource services, including:

  • Temporary and contract staffing
  • Permanent placement
  • Outsourced recruitment processes
  • Workforce consulting and training

Legacy
Following the integration, many of Vedior’s former brands and client relationships continued under the Randstad umbrella, contributing to Randstad’s position as one of the world’s largest staffing firms.

Note: The above information reflects documented corporate history up to the 2008 acquisition; subsequent developments are encompassed within Randstad’s operations.
