Vasily Orlov

Vasily Alexandrovich Orlov was born on April 13, 1975, in Blagoveshchensk, Amur Oblast, which was then part of the Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He is a member of the United Russia political party.

Early Life and Education Orlov received his higher education from the Far Eastern State Agrarian University, graduating in 1997 with a degree in Economics. He later pursued further studies at the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, specializing in State and Municipal Management, from which he graduated in 2002.

Career Orlov's career began in various roles within the private sector, primarily in industrial and resource management companies within the Amur Oblast. He held positions such as General Director of "Amur Coal" Holding Company, a significant entity in the region's coal industry.

In 2007, Orlov transitioned into public service, taking on the role of Deputy Minister for Economic Development of Amur Oblast. His work focused on regional economic strategies, investment attraction, and the implementation of development programs. He steadily advanced within the regional government structure.

In 2015, he was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Amur Oblast, a role that gave him broader oversight of the region's administration and policy implementation.

Governorship On May 30, 2018, Vasily Orlov was appointed acting Governor of Amur Oblast by Russian President Vladimir Putin, following the resignation of his predecessor, Alexander Kozlov. In the gubernatorial elections held on September 9, 2018, Orlov secured a decisive victory, winning with approximately 77.26% of the vote. He officially assumed office as the Governor of Amur Oblast on September 27, 2018.

As governor, Orlov has focused on several key areas for the development of Amur Oblast, including:

  • Economic Diversification: Reducing reliance on natural resources and promoting growth in agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics.
