Vanne (river)

The Vanne is a river in France, a right tributary of the Yonne. It flows through the departments of Aube and Yonne, in the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions, respectively.

Geography:

The river rises near Fontvannes in the Aube department. It flows generally west-southwest.

Course:

The Vanne flows through the following communes:

  • Aube: Fontvannes, Bucey-en-Othe, Estissac, Dierrey-Saint-Julien, Villemaur-sur-Vanne
  • Yonne: Theil-sur-Vanne, Villiers-Louis, Malay-le-Petit, Pont-sur-Vanne, Sens

Hydrology:

The Vanne's flow regime is primarily pluvial (rainfall-dependent). Its waters are used for drinking water supply in the Paris region.

Tributaries:

The Vanne receives several small tributaries along its course.

Significance:
