Vanessa Zamora Ramírez (born July 22, 1991) is a Mexican/American singer, songwriter, and producer. She is also known by the stage name Damaleona.
Background
Zamora was born in Tijuana, Baja California, México. Her parents were pianists, and she showed early interest in the arts, learning guitar, drums, acting, ballet, and modeling. She began attending classes at age eight at the Academia de Música de Mexico, receiving instruction in piano, and learned guitar and drums at age nine. She continued music as a hobby until age eighteen while attending Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where she graduated in communication sciences in 2013 as an honor student.
She began publicly sharing her music by uploading video covers of various artists on YouTube and other social networking sites. She is known for writing her thoughts, experiences, and feelings in notebooks, a practice she described as "brain drain."
