Vadim Alekseyev

Vadim Alekseyev (also transliterated as Vadim Alexeev) is a former international competitive swimmer who specialized in the breaststroke. Born on April 30, 1970, in Alma-Ata, Kazakh SSR, he represented the Soviet Union, the Unified Team, and Kazakhstan during a career that spanned the late 1980s through the mid-1990s.

Alekseyev achieved international recognition in 1991 while representing the Soviet Union at the European Aquatics Championships in Athens, where he won a bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he competed as a member of the Unified Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. During these Games, he qualified for the finals in both of his individual events, finishing fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke and sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke.

In 1996, Alekseyev represented Kazakhstan at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He participated in the 100-meter breaststroke, the 200-meter breaststroke, and the 4x100-meter medley relay, though he did not advance to the final rounds in those events.
