VF-13 (1948–1969)

VF-13 was a United States Navy fighter squadron. Originally established as VF-153 on July 15, 1948, it was redesignated as VF-13 on February 15, 1950. The squadron served actively until its disestablishment on January 20, 1969.

Throughout its service, VF-13 was assigned to various aircraft carriers and air wings, participating in numerous deployments and operations. Aircraft flown by VF-13 included, but were not limited to, the F4U Corsair, F9F Cougar, F3H Demon, F-8 Crusader, and F-4 Phantom II.

The squadron saw action during the Cold War, including deployments to the Mediterranean Sea and the Western Pacific. It contributed to maintaining a naval presence and participating in exercises designed to deter aggression. VF-13 earned various awards and commendations for its service and operational performance. The squadron's lineage is part of the rich history of U.S. Naval aviation.
