Víctor Diogo

Víctor Hugo Diogo Silva (born April 9, 1958, in Treinta y Tres, Uruguay) is a retired Uruguayan football defender who played as a right back. He earned 33 caps for the Uruguay national football team, scoring one goal.

Club career Diogo played club football for Peñarol in Uruguay from 1977 to 1984. He later moved to Brazil, where he played for Palmeiras from 1986 to 1989.

International career He made his international debut on September 20, 1979, in a Copa América match against Paraguay (0-0) in Asunción. Diogo was a member of the Uruguay squad that competed at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. During his international tenure, he was part of the Uruguayan team that won the Copa América in 1983 and the Mundialito in 1980, and was runner-up in the 1985 CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions.

Personal He is the father of Carlos Diogo, also a former professional footballer who played for clubs such as Real Zaragoza and Atlético Madrid, and represented Uruguay internationally.
