Uzana (Bulgarian: Узана) is a winter resort and mountain locality in central Bulgaria. It is situated at the foot of Ispolin peak at an elevation of approximately 1,420 m above sea level, within the Bulgarka Nature Park in the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina). The nearest major city is Gabrovo, about 22 km away.
The area consists of large meadows surrounded by forests, with altitudes ranging from 1,220 to 1,350 m. The resort features 15 hotels and offers tourism opportunities year-round. The longest ski run is approximately 1,100–1,300 m, and the skiable area covers about 800 acres (3.2 km²). Average snowfall is around 508 cm (200 inches) annually.
Uzana is also recognized as the geographic center of Bulgaria. The point marking the geographic center was inaugurated in December 1991 by then-President Zhelyo Zhelev. Since 2008, it has been included in the National Tourist Movement "100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria" as site number 19, alongside the Etar Architectural-Ethnographic Complex, the National Museum of Education, and the House of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo.
Tourism in the Uzana region began in 1937, when the first chalet, also named Uzana, was built on the southern side of the meadow. The surrounding area is suitable for speleology, skiing, rock climbing, and cultural tourism. Nearby attractions include the open-air ethnographic museum Etara, the Sokolski Monastery, and the summits Shipka and Buzludzha. Uzana is also home to rare floral species listed in the Red Book of Endangered Species.
