Uri Gil

Uri Gil (born 1957) is a prominent Israeli journalist, media executive, and military correspondent. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to Israeli broadcast media, particularly his extensive career at Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) and his pivotal role in the establishment and management of commercial television channels.

Born in Israel, Gil began his media career during his service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at Galei Tzahal, the military's official radio station. He advanced through various capacities within the station, serving as a military correspondent, editor, and ultimately ascending to the position of head of the news department. During his tenure at Galei Tzahal, he covered major national and international events and conflicts, earning a reputation for his insightful and accurate reporting on security and defense matters.

Following his distinguished service at Army Radio, Gil transitioned to the commercial television sector. He played an instrumental role in the founding of Channel 10, one of Israel's primary commercial television broadcasters, serving as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). His leadership was crucial in shaping the channel's early programming, operational strategy, and market positioning. Later in his career, he also held the position of CEO at Reshet, another major Israeli broadcasting company, which eventually merged with Channel 10 to form Reshet 13.
