Textual Character

History and Location

The manuscript is dated to the 8th century. Its early history is not well-documented, but it eventually came into the possession of the Vatican Library. It is currently housed at the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Vaticani graeci 2026) in Vatican City.

Significance

While classified as a late uncial manuscript and primarily reflecting the Byzantine textual tradition, Uncial 0298 provides valuable evidence for the transmission of the New Testament text. Its preservation in the Vatican Library ensures its ongoing study by textual critics and palaeographers.
