Umberto Motto (born 22 July 1930 in Turin, Italy) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender.
Career
Motto began his career in the youth ranks of Torino FC. He notably captained Torino's youth team that played the club's last four matches of the 1948–49 Serie A season alongside the senior squad, following the Superga air disaster of 4 May 1949 — a tragedy in which the entire Grande Torino first team was killed in a plane crash. Motto, then 18 years old, had been scheduled to travel with the team but was left off the flight due to a last-minute change.
He continued with Torino into the subsequent season, making additional Serie A appearances. In 1952, he transferred to Alessandria, where he played until 1954.

Later life
After his playing career, Motto remained associated with Torino FC for many years as a club official and also became a successful entrepreneur. As of 2025, he is 94 years old and is one of the last surviving individuals connected to the Grande Torino era.
