He assumed office on May 29, 2023, after winning the 2023 gubernatorial election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Prior to his election as governor, Namadi served as the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State from 2019 to 2023 under Governor Badaru Abubakar.
Early Life and Education
Umar Namadi was born on April 7, 1963, in Nalihudu, Suletankarkar Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria. He pursued his higher education at Kaduna Polytechnic, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy in 1983. He later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Bayero University Kano in 1998.Professional Career
