USS Schenectady was a United States Navy Tacoma‑class patrol frigate (PF‑54) that served during World War II.
Overview
The vessel was laid down on 20 May 1943 at the Walter DuBaur Shipbuilding Company in Wilmington, Delaware. She was launched on 18 July 1943 and commissioned on 4 March 1944. Throughout her brief career, USS Schenectady performed convoy‑escort duties in the North Atlantic, later participating in anti‑submarine patrols and escort missions in the Pacific theater after transiting the Panama Canal in mid‑1945. The ship was decommissioned on 27 June 1946, struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 5 December 1946, and sold for scrapping in 1947.

The ship was named after the city of Schenectady, New York. The name follows the U.S. Navy’s World War II convention of naming patrol frigates after American towns and cities.
