USS Hale

The USS Hale may refer to either of two ships of the United States Navy named in honor of Nathan Hale, an American Revolutionary War hero:

  • USS Hale (DD-133), a Wickes-class destroyer, commissioned in 1919 and decommissioned in 1945. She served in both World Wars and participated in actions in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.

  • USS Hale (DD-642), a Fletcher-class destroyer, commissioned in 1943 and decommissioned in 1946. She served extensively in the Pacific during World War II, participating in numerous battles and earning several battle stars.
