Tyler Herron

Tyler William Herron (born July 15, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. A right-handed pitcher, he was a notable prospect drafted in the first round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. Herron is also recognized for his international representation, having played for the Israeli national baseball team.

Early Life and Draft

Herron was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He attended Wellington High School in Wellington, Florida, where he was a standout pitcher. His performance attracted significant attention from professional scouts, leading to his selection by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round (47th overall) of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft.

Professional Career

After being drafted, Herron began his professional career within the St. Louis Cardinals' minor league system. He spent several seasons with various Cardinals affiliates, progressing through different levels of their farm system. Following his time with the Cardinals organization, Herron continued his career with stints in the minor league systems of other Major League Baseball organizations, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Although a highly touted draft pick, Herron ultimately did not reach Major League Baseball. Throughout his career, he also played extensively in various independent baseball leagues, such as the American Association, Atlantic League, and Frontier League. His independent league career allowed him to continue playing professionally for many seasons and maintain his role as a consistent pitcher.

International Career

Herron represented Israel in international baseball competitions. He was a member of the Israeli national baseball team that participated in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. During the tournament, Herron made several appearances as a relief pitcher, contributing to Israel's unexpected success and advancing to the second round. His participation in the World Baseball Classic marked a significant highlight of his career, providing him with experience on a global stage.
