Definition
Turjak is a settlement in the Municipality of Velike Lašče in central Slovenia. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and belongs to the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.

Located at coordinates 45°52′40.96″ N, 14°36′35.21″ E, Turjak covers an area of 2.3 km² (0.89 sq mi) and lies at an elevation of approximately 520 m (1,704 ft) above sea level. As of the 2018 census, the settlement had a population of 205 inhabitants. The settlement is best known for Turjak Castle, a prominent 13th‑century fortified residence that has been extensively rebuilt and remains one of the most well‑preserved castles in the historic region of Carniola.

The Slovene name Turjak is pronounced [tuˈɾjaːk]. The German exonym for the settlement is Auersperg. Accurate information about the linguistic origin of the Slovene name is not confirmed.
