Originally established in the late 19th century during the British colonial period, the garden has changed ownership several times; it is currently managed by the Tumsong Tea Estate Ltd., which operates under the umbrella of the Darjeeling Tea Co‑operative. The estate produces a variety of orthodox‑style teas, primarily Second Flush and Autumn flush Darjeeling teas, which are marketed both domestically and internationally.
