Trysten Hill (born June 21, 1998) is an American professional football player who plays as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (28th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
Early life and high school
Hill was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami Central Senior High School, where he played both offensive and defensive line positions. As a senior, he recorded 86 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks, earning first-team All-Dade County honors.
College career
Hill enrolled at the University of Central Florida in 2017 and redshirted his true freshman year. In the 2018 season, he appeared in all 13 games, recording 28 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. As a redshirt sophomore in 2019, he started 12 of 13 games, posting 50 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks, earning second-team All-AAC recognition. He returned for his redshirt junior year in 2020, registering 38 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks, and was named to the All-AAC second team.
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
Hill declared for the NFL Draft after the 2020 season and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (28th overall). He signed a four-year contract with Dallas on July 20, 2021. During his rookie season, Hill appeared in 12 games, starting six, and recorded 30 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 sack. Injuries limited his participation in the 2022 season, causing him to be placed on injured reserve in November 2022.
Chicago Bears
On March 16, 2023, Hill was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick. He entered the Bears' training camp competing for a starting interior defensive line role.
Personal life
Hill's older brother, Chris Hill, also played college football at UCF as a defensive end.
