Trond Fevolden (born 1954) is a Norwegian civil servant and former director of several national agencies. He is primarily known for his leadership roles within the Norwegian public administration, particularly as Director General of the Norwegian Prison Service and Director of the Directorate for Civil Protection.
Career
Fevolden began his career in the Norwegian public sector, working in various capacities within the state administration. He notably served as a department director (avdelingsdirektør) within the Ministry of Justice and Police, where he gained significant experience in legal and administrative matters relevant to public safety and justice.In 2005, Fevolden was appointed Director General of the Norwegian Prison Service (Kriminalomsorgen). He held this position for eight years, overseeing the administration and operations of correctional facilities across Norway until 2013. During his tenure, the Prison Service was responsible for the enforcement of sentences, including imprisonment, community service, and other non-custodial sanctions, with a focus on rehabilitation and preventing re-offending.
Following his leadership of the Prison Service, Fevolden was appointed Director of the Directorate for Civil Protection (Direktoratet for samfunnssikkerhet og beredskap – DSB) in 2013. The DSB is Norway's central agency for societal safety and emergency preparedness, coordinating efforts related to fire and electrical safety, hazardous substances, and overall preparedness for accidents and disasters. Fevolden served in this demanding role until 2016, contributing to national strategies for managing crises and ensuring public safety.
