Trichopteryx polycommata is a species of moth in the family Geometridae, commonly known as the barred yellow. It was first described by Michael Denis and Ignaz Schiffermüller in 1775. The species is native to the Palearctic region, with a distribution that includes most of Europe, parts of North Africa, and western Asia.

Description

It inhabits deciduous and mixed woodlands, forest edges, and hedgerows, favoring areas where its larval host plants are abundant.
Life Cycle and Biology

Ecological Role
As a herbivore, the larva contributes to the regulation of foliage growth on its host plants. Adults serve as prey for nocturnal insectivores, such as bats and night‑flying birds. The species is also a pollinator for some night‑blooming plants, although its role in pollination is considered minor compared to other moths.
Conservation Status
