Trevor Releford

Trevor Releford (born October 1, 1991) is an American former professional basketball player who primarily played the point guard position. He is noted for his collegiate career at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he earned All-Conference honors in the American Athletic Conference (AAC).

Early life and education
Releford was born in Dallas, Texas, and attended Dallas Carter High School, where he was a standout guard and earned All-State recognition. He subsequently enrolled at SMU, playing for the Mustangs from 2009 to 2014. During his senior season (2013–2014), he averaged 14.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, leading SMU to a 27‑6 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Professional career
After going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, Releford began his professional career overseas. His club history includes:

  • 2014–2015: Bàsquet Manresa (Spain, Liga ACB) – signed a short-term contract but was released before appearing in a regular-season game.
  • 2015: Texas Legends (NBA Development League, United States) – appeared in 10 games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.1 assists.
  • 2015–2016: Rethymno Cretan Kings (Greece, Greek Basket League) – posted averages of 10.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.
  • 2016–2017: Rasta Vechta (Germany, Basketball Bundesliga) – contributed 8.3 points and 2.5 assists per game.
  • 2017–2018: Boulazac Basket Dordogne (France, LNB Pro B) – averaged 11.0 points and 3.0 assists per game.

Releford’s professional career was marked by several short-term contracts across European leagues and a brief stint in the NBA Development League. He retired from professional basketball in 2018.

Personal life
Trevor Releford is the younger brother of former NBA player Jeff Releford. Post-retirement, he has been involved in basketball coaching clinics and youth development programs in Texas.
