Trentino Rosa (officially Trentino Rosa Volley) was an Italian professional women's volleyball club based in Pergine Valsugana, in the Trentino region. The club was founded in 2008 and dissolved in 2022.
History
The club was established in 2008 by founder Roberto Postal, who acquired the first-team rights from the Mattarello-based club Polisportiva Torrefranca. The goal was to consolidate the best regional players into a more focused program. The club was initially based in Mattarello.
Trentino Rosa began competing in Serie B1 (the third division of Italian women's volleyball). In 2009, it began a collaboration with the more prominent men's club Trentino Volley, which helped strengthen the team and led to a promotion to Serie A2 at the end of the 2010–11 season. However, due to financial difficulties, the club was forced to renounce that promotion. It relocated from Mattarello to Pergine Valsugana and restarted in Serie B1 for the 2012–13 season, this time with the sponsorship of Delta Informatica. The club achieved promotion to Serie A2 the following season.
In the 2015–16 season, Trentino Rosa lost the promotion playoff final to Saugella Team Monza, narrowly missing a spot in Serie A1.
Rise to Serie A1 and Dissolution
In the 2019–20 season, the team won the Coppa Italia Serie A2 and was leading the regular season of Serie A2 when the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The club applied for repechage to Serie A1, which was approved by the Lega Volley Femminile on 30 July 2020.
In its debut Serie A1 season (2020–21), Trentino Rosa finished 8th in the regular season and advanced to the playoffs, where it lost to Il Bisonte Firenze. In the 2021–22 season, the team finished 14th and last in the regular season and was relegated back to Serie A2. In June 2022, Trentino Volley acquired the rights to play in Serie A2 from Trentino Rosa, and the club was subsequently dissolved.
