Toshiharu Sato (佐藤 利治, Satō Toshiharu, born May 1, 1969) is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Yomiuri Giants and the Orix BlueWave during his career.
Early Life and High School Career
Born on May 1, 1969, in Akita Prefecture, Japan, Toshiharu Sato attended Akita Chuo High School. During his high school tenure, he distinguished himself as a talented left-handed pitcher, attracting significant attention from professional baseball scouts across Japan.Professional Career
Sato began his professional career after being selected by the Yomiuri Giants in the 1987 NPB draft. He made his debut with the Giants in 1988 and spent nine seasons with the club, playing there until 1996. Primarily serving as a left-handed middle reliever, he also occasionally took on starting pitching duties during his time with the Giants.In 1997, Sato was traded to the Orix BlueWave (now the Orix Buffaloes). He played for the BlueWave for two seasons, from 1997 to 1998, before retiring from professional baseball at the end of the 1998 season.
