Tore Svensson (6 December 1934 – 26 October 2002) was a Swedish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is primarily known for his decade-long career with Malmö FF and for being a member of the Sweden national squad that reached the final of the 1958 FIFA World Cup.
Club Career
Svensson began his professional career with Malmö FF, joining the club in 1956. He quickly established himself as a prominent goalkeeper and remained a fixture in the team for ten seasons, until 1966. During his tenure at Malmö FF, Svensson made over 200 league appearances. He played a crucial role in the club's success, notably winning the Allsvenskan (Swedish top-tier league) title in 1965. This championship was a significant achievement, cementing his legacy with the club.Following his departure from Malmö FF, Svensson played for Lunds BK from 1967 to 1969, concluding his playing career there.
International Career
Tore Svensson earned two caps for the Sweden national football team. His most significant international involvement came in 1958 when he was selected as a reserve goalkeeper for the Swedish squad. Sweden hosted the 1958 FIFA World Cup and embarked on a memorable journey to the final, ultimately losing to Brazil.
