Tony Piet

Anthony "Tony" Francis Piet (born December 7, 1906, in Chicago, Illinois; died December 23, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois) was an American professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) for nine seasons from 1931 to 1939.

Career Overview: Piet began his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing for them from 1931 to 1933. He was then traded to the Cincinnati Reds, where he played from 1934 to 1935. His most productive seasons came with the Chicago Cubs, for whom he played from 1936 to 1938. He finished his major league career in 1939 with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Known for his speed and defensive capabilities in the outfield, Piet was also a consistent hitter. His career statistics include a .289 batting average, 22 home runs, and 338 runs batted in over 928 games played. He appeared in the 1938 World Series with the Chicago Cubs, where they lost to the New York Yankees.

After his playing career, Piet remained involved in baseball for a period, though not in a high-profile capacity. He passed away in his hometown of Chicago at the age of 75.
