Tony Burse (born February 19, 1975) is a former professional American football running back. He played college football at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he was a standout in the NAIA competition.
Burse entered the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 1998, signing with the Indianapolis Colts. During his rookie season he appeared in nine games, recording 19 rush attempts for 60 yards and a single touchdown, as well as contributing on special teams. He later spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, primarily in backup and practice squad roles.
After his NFL stint, Burse continued his career in alternative professional leagues. He played for the Orlando Predators and the Florida Firecats in the Arena Football League (AFL), where he amassed notable rushing and receiving statistics, including over 600 yards on the ground and multiple touchdowns in a single season. He also appeared in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Calgary Stampeders and the Edmonton Eskimos, adding versatility as a special‑teams player.
Following retirement from active play, Burse has been involved in coaching and community outreach programs aimed at youth sports development. His professional career spanned more than a decade across multiple football leagues, reflecting a journeyman trajectory common among undrafted players who sustain longevity through adaptability and special‑team contributions.
