Tirstrup

Tirstrup is a small village in Denmark, located in the Syddjurs Municipality within the Central Denmark Region (Midtjylland). It is situated on the Djursland peninsula, approximately 23 kilometers (14 miles) northeast of the city of Aarhus.

Tirstrup is primarily known for being the location of Aarhus Airport (AAR), Denmark's second-largest airport by passenger volume outside of Copenhagen. The airport is often referred to locally and in older contexts as Tirstrup Airport due to its proximity to the village. The presence of the airport is the most significant feature and economic driver for the immediate area around Tirstrup, connecting the Djursland region and the larger Aarhus area to national and international destinations.

While the village itself is small, characterized by typical Danish rural landscapes and residential areas, its identity is strongly linked to the airport. The surrounding area consists mainly of agricultural land.
