Timarchus of Miletus (also spelled Timarch; Ancient Greek: Τίμαρχος) was a tyrant of the ancient Greek city of Miletus in the 3rd century BC. He was installed in power following the Ptolemaic conquest of Miletus in 279 BC. Together with Ptolemy I Epigone (also known as Ptolemy "the Son"), he led a revolt against Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt in 259 BC. He was killed the following year by the Seleucid king Antiochus II during the Second Syrian War between the Seleucid Empire and Ptolemaic Egypt. After his death, the citizens of Miletus, grateful for being liberated from his tyranny, awarded Antiochus II the epithet "Theos" (God).
