Tim Skousen

Tim Skousen is an American film director, editor, and producer, known for his work primarily in independent cinema. He is perhaps best known for editing the critically acclaimed and cult hit film Napoleon Dynamite (2004) and for directing the feature film The Sasquatch Gang (2006).

Career

Skousen began his career in filmmaking as an editor, gaining significant recognition for his work on Jared Hess's directorial debut, Napoleon Dynamite. The film, celebrated for its quirky humor and unique style, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and became a cultural phenomenon. Skousen's editing played a crucial role in establishing the film's distinctive pacing and comedic timing.

Following the success of Napoleon Dynamite, Skousen made his feature directorial debut with The Sasquatch Gang (2006), a comedy he also co-wrote with Jared Hess. The film featured Justin Long and Jeremy Sumpter and further established Skousen's style, often characterized by deadpan humor, eccentric characters, and a rural, independent sensibility.

He continued his collaboration with Jared and Jerusha Hess, often serving as an editor or in other production roles on their subsequent projects, including Gentlemen Broncos (2009). Skousen has also directed several short films and other independent features. His filmography reflects a consistent engagement with offbeat comedy and character-driven narratives.

Beyond his film work, Skousen has been involved in film education, teaching at Brigham Young University, where he shares his practical experience with aspiring filmmakers.
