Tim Rushlow (album)

Tim Rushlow is the self-titled debut solo album by American country music artist Tim Rushlow. It was released in 1998 on Atlantic Nashville. Rushlow, formerly the lead singer of the hugely successful country group Little Texas, launched his solo career with this record after the band disbanded in 1997.

Background After a highly successful run with Little Texas, which yielded numerous hits and multi-platinum albums throughout the 1990s, Tim Rushlow decided to pursue a solo career. His self-titled album was an attempt to establish his individual artistry and sound distinct from his previous band. Rushlow co-produced the album with Mike Clute, showcasing his involvement in shaping the project.

Singles and Chart Performance The album produced two chart singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) chart:

  • "She's All That": This lead single was Rushlow's biggest solo hit, peaking at No. 12.
  • "Crazy Life": The follow-up single reached No. 36.

The album itself also charted, reaching No. 23 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

Musical Style The album features a contemporary country sound, leaning into ballads and mid-tempo tracks that highlight Rushlow's strong vocal capabilities. While it maintained some of the mainstream appeal of Little Texas, it allowed Rushlow more personal expression in song choice and lyrical themes.

Track Listing (Partial/Representative) The album includes tracks such as "She's All That," "Crazy Life," and "I Wish You'd Stay." The overall collection aimed to present a versatile artist capable of delivering both heartfelt romantic songs and more uptempo numbers.

Reception Tim Rushlow was generally well-received by critics who praised Rushlow's vocals and the production quality. While it did not replicate the massive commercial success of Little Texas, it was considered a solid debut for Rushlow's solo career, demonstrating his enduring talent as a vocalist and performer within the country music genre.
