Tim Raines Jr.

Timothy Raines Jr. (born May 23, 1979) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He is the son of Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Tim Raines. Raines Jr. played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles during the 2004, 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Early life and education
Raines Jr. was born in Oakland, California. He attended high school in Maryland, where his athletic abilities attracted the attention of professional scouts.

Professional career

Draft and minor leagues
Raines Jr. was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 24th round of the 1998 MLB amateur draft. He progressed through the Orioles’ farm system, playing for affiliates such as the Bluefield Orioles (Rookie League), the Delmarva Shorebirds (Class A), the Frederick Keys (Class A‑Advanced), and the Bowie Baysox (Double‑A). He also spent time with the Triple‑A Rochester Red Wings.

Major League debut
Raines Jr. made his MLB debut on September 9, 2004, as a pinch‑runner against the Boston Red Sox. Over the course of three seasons with the Orioles, he appeared in 27 games, compiling a .247 batting average, two home runs, and nine runs batted in. He primarily served as an outfielder and a base‑stealing specialist, reflecting the skill set of his father.

Later playing career
After his tenure with the Orioles, Raines Jr. continued to play professionally in independent leagues. He pitched for teams such as the Newark Bears and the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He also participated in winter leagues in the Dominican Republic.
