Tim Murray (ice hockey executive)

Timothy "Tim" Murray is an American ice hockey executive who has served in various management and scouting roles within the National Hockey League (NHL).

Murray's career in hockey management began with scouting positions for several NHL franchises, including the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, and Florida Panthers. He gained significant experience in player evaluation and development through these roles.

He rose to prominence as the Director of Player Personnel for the Ottawa Senators, a position he held for several years. Following his time with the Senators, Murray served as the Assistant General Manager (AGM) for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he was part of the front office that won the Stanley Cup in 2007. His tenure in Anaheim further solidified his reputation as a capable hockey executive.

In January 2014, Murray was named the General Manager of the Buffalo Sabres. During his time as GM, he oversaw a significant rebuilding phase for the franchise, including the acquisition of key prospects through the NHL Entry Draft, most notably drafting Jack Eichel second overall in 2015. Murray's tenure with the Sabres concluded when he was fired in April 2017.

Tim Murray is the nephew of the late Bryan Murray, a highly respected and long-time NHL coach and general manager.
