Name
The residence is named after Carl Frederik Tietgen (1829–1905), a prominent Danish industrialist and financier who played a key role in the development of Denmark’s modern infrastructure and private banking sector.
Architecture and Design
- Architects: The complex was designed by the Danish architectural firm Kjær & Richter in collaboration with Bjørn Nørgaard (landscape).
- Structure: The building consists of a rectangular nine‑storey block that frames a central courtyard. The façade combines exposed concrete, glass, and white rendered surfaces, creating a modernist aesthetic that responds to the historic urban fabric of Østerbro.
- Interior: The residence contains a mixture of single rooms, double rooms, and studio apartments, along with communal facilities such as study areas, a library, a laundry room, a café, and a rooftop terrace.
