Thomas Jurk (born 5 July 1964) is a German politician affiliated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). His political career includes service at both the state and federal levels.
Early life and education
Jurk was born in Altenburg, then part of the German Democratic Republic. He pursued higher education in Leipzig, where he studied law and political science.
Political career
State politics
- Member of the Landtag of Saxony (1999–2004).
- Chairman of the SPD in Saxony (2004–2015), a role in which he coordinated party activities and strategy within the state.
Federal politics
- Elected to the Bundestag, the German federal parliament, where he served from the 2005 federal election until the 2021 election.
- Throughout his Bundestag tenure, Jurk was a member of parliamentary committees, notably the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs.
