Thomas Hajek (born February 6, 1978, in Bratislava, Slovakia) is a Slovak-Canadian professional lacrosse player. He plays defense and has spent the majority of his National Lacrosse League (NLL) career with the Philadelphia Wings.
Early Life and Education Hajek was born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia), and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He attended the University of Vermont, where he served as captain of the men's hockey team and was a three-year letterwinner in men's lacrosse.
Professional Career Hajek was selected 9th overall in the 2003 NLL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Wings. In 2005, he was named captain of the Philadelphia Wings and was selected to his first NLL East Division All-Star team. He was named a starter to the All-Star team in both 2006 and 2007. Over his NLL career (2004–2012), he played primarily for the Philadelphia Wings, with a brief stint for the Boston franchise in 2011. In 116 regular-season games, he recorded 7 goals, 45 assists, and 52 points, along with 618 loose balls and 381 penalty minutes. He also played Junior lacrosse for the St. Catharines Athletics and Junior hockey for the St. Catharines Falcons, and formerly played for the Victoria Shamrocks in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA).
