Thishala Algama

Thishala Algama is a Sri Lankan netball player who predominantly plays as a goal shooter for the Sri Lanka national netball team. Following the retirement of veteran goal shooter Tharjini Sivalingam, Algama was identified as a leading candidate to assume the primary shooting role within the national squad.

Algama was selected for the Sri Lankan roster at the 2015 Netball World Cup and again for the 2023 Netball World Cup, where the team finished in 12th place. She was a key member of the squad that finished as runners‑up to Singapore in the final of the 2024 Asian Netball Championships. In various matches during the 2024 tournament, Algama recorded high shooting percentages, including a performance in which she converted 94% of her attempts against Saudi Arabia.

Details regarding Algama’s early life, education, and club career are not widely documented in publicly available encyclopedic sources. Her contributions to Sri Lankan netball are recognized primarily through her participation in international competitions and her role as a prominent goal shooter for the national team.
