Ssekikubo Theodore (born 20 August 1969) is a Ugandan politician. He represents Lwemiyaga County, Sembabule District, in the Parliament of Uganda.
Early life and education
Ssekikubo was born on 20 August 1969 in Lwemiyaga, Ssembabule. He attended Makerere University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, a Master of Public Administration and Management, and a Bachelor of Laws. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in Kampala.
Career
Before entering politics, Ssekikubo worked in the Ministry of Defence as an assistant secretary in the administrative office. He also worked as a lecturer at Ndejje University from 1998 to 1999. In 2016, he contested for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda but lost to Jacob Oulanyah, who later served as Speaker.
Ssekikubo has been a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. He has frequently been described as a "rebel" within his party, having openly challenged party positions and spoken out against what he has characterized as corruption and abuse of office. In 2010, he was involved in an attempt to censure then-Security Minister Amama Mbabazi over alleged oil corruption scandals.
Arrest
On 10 January 2020, Ssekikubo was arrested for allegedly "inciting the public to move cattle in a quarantine area." He was granted bail on 14 January but was re-arrested on 16 January.
Recent developments
According to various media reports, Ssekikubo lost his parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections. He subsequently announced his resignation from the NRM, citing what he described as betrayal and "cupidity" within the party following the dismissal of a petition. Brigadier General (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande, a senior NRM figure, became his main political rival in Lwemiyaga County.
