Theerathon Bunmathan

Theerathon Bunmathan (Thai: ธีระธร บุณมะรัง, born 6 March 1990) is a Thai professional footballer who plays as a left‑back or left‑winger. He has represented the Thailand national team and has played for clubs in Thailand, the Netherlands, and Japan.

Early life and education
Theerathon was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He began playing football at a young age and joined the youth academy of BEC Tero Sasana (now known as Police United) before advancing to the senior team.

Club career

  • BEC Tero Sasana (2008–2013)
    Theerathon made his professional debut with BEC Tero Sasana, appearing in the Thai Premier League and establishing himself as a regular starter.

  • SC Cambuur (2013–2015)
    In August 2013, he transferred to Dutch Eredivisie club SC Cambuur, becoming the first Thai player to sign for an Eredivisie team. He made his league debut on 12 September 2013 against FC Twente. During his tenure, he accumulated 35 league appearances and contributed a goal.

  • Muangthong United (2015–2020)
    After his contract with Cambuur expired, Theerathon returned to Thailand, joining Muangthong United. He helped the club secure the Thai League 1 title in 2016 and the Thai FA Cup in 2017.

  • Port FC (2020–2022)
    Theerathon signed with Port FC, where he continued to feature prominently in domestic competitions and the AFC Champions League.

  • Urawa Red Diamonds (2022–present)
    In July 2022, he moved to Japanese J1 League side Urawa Red Diamonds. He has contributed to the club’s defensive line and participated in the AFC Champions League campaign.

International career
Theerathon made his senior debut for the Thailand national team in 2010. He has earned over 70 caps and scored several goals. He represented Thailand at multiple AFF Championship tournaments, winning the competition in 2014, 2016, and 2020. He also participated in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup and the 2022 World Cup qualification matches.

Known for his speed, crossing ability, and defensive discipline, Theerathon operates primarily as a left‑back but is capable of advancing into midfield or attack. His set‑piece delivery and free‑kick proficiency are notable aspects of his game.
