The Hang Ups are an American indie rock band formed in 1990 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group’s music blends elements of indie rock, power pop, and jangle pop.

History
The Hang Ups emerged from the Minneapolis underground music scene in the early 1990s. Their debut release was the self‑titled EP The Hang Ups (1992) on Twin/Tone Records. The band’s first full‑length album, All Your Summer Songs, was issued in 1993, also on Twin/Tone, and received favorable reviews in independent music publications for its melodic songwriting and crisp production.
In 1995 the group signed to Restless Records and released a self‑titled album, The Hang Ups. The record featured the single “Blue River,” which garnered modest college‑radio airplay. Their third album, Freeze Frame, followed in 1997 on the same label.
The Hang Ups toured nationally throughout the mid‑1990s, sharing stages with contemporaries such as The Jayhawks and Superchunk. After a period of reduced activity, the band announced a reunion show in Minneapolis in 2019, marking their first performance together in over a decade.
