The Elms (Altheimer, Arkansas)

The Elms is a historic house located near Altheimer, Arkansas. It is a two-story, wood-frame structure, built in a vernacular Greek Revival style. The house was built circa 1855 by Dr. John W. Pinson, a prominent local physician and planter. The building's design features include a gable roof, a full-width front porch supported by Doric columns, and symmetrically arranged windows. The interior retains many original features, including woodwork and plasterwork. The house served as the centerpiece of a large cotton plantation. The Elms is a significant example of antebellum architecture in the Arkansas Delta and reflects the region's agricultural history. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
