The Dolphin's Cry (Russian: Крик дельфина, romanized: Krik delfina) is a 1987 Soviet action drama film directed by Alexey Saltykov. It was produced by Mosfilm and released on 13 April 1987 in the Soviet Union. The film is based on the book "The Mystery of Archelon" (also titled "The Dolphin's Cry") by Nikolai Cherkashin.

Plot
The crew of the new American strategic missile submarine Archelon is struck by an unknown virus. The command decides to remove the submarine from combat duty and place the crew under quarantine. The cause of the disease is discovered to be a leak from one of the warheads. With no treatment available, the crew remains confined to the ship for approximately three years while an antidote is sought. Symptoms resemble leprosy, and the ship's psychologist observes that the sailors are affected by barely restrained, unmotivated aggression. As conditions deteriorate, the captain—unable to endure the prolonged ordeal—fakes the destruction of his submarine after unsuccessful attempts to board quarantine enforcement vessels, and orders attacks on passing ships. Ultimately, he contemplates launching missiles equipped with the virus to destroy humanity, but changes his mind at the last moment and sends the submarine into a vertical dive to the ocean floor.
