The Chariot was an American metalcore band formed in Douglasville, Georgia, in 2003 by vocalist and guitarist Josh Scogin, formerly of the band Norma Jean. The group was known for its chaotic live performances, abrasive musical style, and a frequent rotation of band members.
History

Formation and early years (2003–2005): After departing from Norma Jean, Scogin recruited bassist Jon Terrey, drummer Jeff Carter, and guitarist Chase Nikkinen to form The Chariot. Their debut album, Everything Is Alive in Some Kind of Way, was released on November 23, 2004, through Solid State Records.

Line‑up changes and subsequent releases (2005–2009): The band experienced multiple personnel changes, with members such as bassist Timothy "The Kind of" Green, guitarist Matt Smith, and drummer David Kennedy joining at various points. Their second album, The Fiancee, was issued in 2007, followed by Wars and Rumors of Peace in 2009, both on Solid State Records.

Later period and disbandment (2009–2013): In 2010, The Chariot released Long Live on Good Fight Music, which featured a more experimental approach while retaining their aggressive sound. The band's final studio album, One Wing, arrived in 2012. In November 2013, The Chariot announced the conclusion of their activities, performing a farewell tour that concluded in December of the same year.
