Thalamae was a town in ancient Laconia, a region of the Peloponnese in Greece. Located near the eastern coast, it was part of the territory controlled by Sparta. Sources indicate that Thalamae was situated on or near the Laconian Gulf (also known as the Gulf of Laconia). The town is primarily known for its sanctuary of Pasiphaƫ, an oracular shrine. Pausanias, the Greek travel writer of the 2nd century CE, visited and described the site, noting the existence of a spring sacred to Ino and the oracle dedicated to Pasiphaƫ, referred to locally as "Ino." He recounts that the oracle provided dreams in response to inquiries. The exact location of Thalamae is not definitively known, but archaeological surveys have attempted to identify its remains based on Pausanias' descriptions and geographical context. The significance of Thalamae lies primarily in its religious function and its role in the religious landscape of ancient Laconia.
